It has been recognized that collaboration is one of the key success factors of supply chain management. Enterprises in the supply chain exchange information through orders. In this paper, the supply chain is described as an order chain. Therefore, supply chain management becomes an issue of collaborative order life cycle management. By understanding that information sharing is beneficial in reducing adverse effects caused by supply chain dynamics, a web-based system is developed to facilitate the collaboration and information sharing between supply chain partners. A simulation study is conducted to analyze the benefits of sharing information through this web-based system in different levels of collaboration between supply chain partners. The results show that sharing order plan and end demand with supplier can reduce supply chain costs significantly. Some implications and directions are discussed of future research.
